Hmm maybe im the weirdo here but i may wash my hands at the most of a couple times a day. I do not fear germs and would even eat a sandwich with dirty hands if a bathroom isn't around to do so. I guess i grew and was trained to not fear germs and ive done ok so far. M.I.T. did a study and 78% of people dont wash their hands while drinking my boss is way ocd washes his hands avg of 15 times an hour at work but give him 3 beers and forgets all about it.
See folks!
ADarma here is living proof that The Great Orange is the Father of Health and should be respected and given thanks for the Holy Vitamin C the He has provided through his power, benevolence and Holy Citrus Family.
ADarma this is a running joke btw...I was sick a month ago and was living offa OJ. So much that I turned it into a joke church of sorts. You can find that here : The Noble Pagan Forums - The Church of Citrus
Check it out for a good laugh or even better join in for the revelry that the members have for all things Citrussy! LOL!
I went through a germaphobic sort of thing yeaaars ago. CR can attest I was no fun, full of anxiety and just a sad sorry case.
It was na so much "germs" as invisible toxins.
I had gotten a case of costochondritis ( read inflammation of the cartilage on your ribs) only I didna know I had it ( and it took three days to diagnose). The onset felt like something like I imagine a heart attack would feel like. IT was terrifying. The last thing I had touched was our Woody Nightshade bush so it became linked in my head that new touch= bad. It did na help that a week before hand I had an accidental chemically induced bad experience whose symptoms were so very similar to the onset of costo. So invisible unknown toxins = death for me.
I am a barefooter ( love going eerywhere barefoot). I refused to go outside in my bare feet. If I did by accident I suffered from a panic attack that felt remarkably close to the symptoms I was so deathly afraid of.
I would na pet my cats ( who knows what they rub up on!!!!)
I would na touch new things. I sprayed the house ( and worried about inhaling chemicals so it just made it worse). I washed my hands constantly ( get the toxins off!!!!). I bought cotton gloves ( by then I knew I had a problem....it was tearing me and bubby up....I couldna help it I just wanted to be SAFE!!!).
Skin is the largest organ of the body, it is exposed all the time to things AND it's more absorbant than people give it credit for ( that is probably why I adore my callouses so!!! Think ARMOR). If you think too hard on that you may end up in a burka ( Middle Eastern all over body attire for women) year round.
I was heading there.......LOL
If someone used a new cleaner I almost cried. Oh let's get real. I DID cry. And then cried more because I knew I was irritating everyone around me, and it was stupid and I could not stop how I felt. I stopped using powdered cleaners and would wear a scarf over my face ( and still figured the micro powder would get through the threads).
It was horrifying.
That was 7 years ago.
I have broken from that ( mostly). I've actually used Comet ( I grew up with it I reasoned and I am na dead) since then and I will use bleach ( if I HAVE TO) if it is scented ( like fresh rain). I am overtly accute to strong chemical smells and don't burst out in tears from fright so readily now.
So fuck germs.
LOL!
I can't afford to be afraid to breathe ALL the time. That is just too taxing. If I am meant to die by a random microbial so be it.
I'm more concerned about my health in proximity of man mades.

Swine flu? Guess what...its the flu..it just has a different name from the THOUSANDS of other strains of flu's out there...so we can separate them from one another. The hype? Because its brand-spanking new, pig piggies got it and some people died. Now, so we're all clear, people die EVERY YEAR from the common flu. Thousands die from pneumonia, and other seasonal crap that we seem to pass along guilt free.
Sure, washing your hands and not shaking hands after you've just sneezed into it would help prevent the spread of illness but we don't really take those things into consideration.
You are going to come into contact with germs that contain virus's every day and if you haven't gotten sick yet, chances are you've already had that cold, flue, strep..whatever.
Its getting on my nerves to hear everyone wigout about swine flu. A friend of mine, anytime I sneeze or cough or have a stomachache says to me "MAYBE ITS SWINE GO TO THE DOCTORS!" well....if it is...I'll bury my face into the pillow, drink me some tea, sleep lots...and get better.
Its what the doctors going to tell me anyways.
Germs are necessary to come in contact with-- it helps us become immune to the spread of crap that people catch. Its how the world works. Rubbing yourself down in anti bacterial stuff every 5 seconds is HORRIBLE for you. Use it at the grocery store, preparing food, on your kids when they've had a rough (germy day) at school. But to keep ourselves completely away from it is defeating the purpose of immunity.

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin....meaning what your body does not use by the time it hits your pee goes by-by (hence, neon pee ;-). Vitamin C (like B-vitamins) do not store in your body for later use like a fat soluble vitamin (A,D,E,K) would.
Since various sources state the RDA anywhere from 100 to 2,000 mg, there is still debate on how much to actually take, but to get the best "bang for your buck" it is best to spread it out throughout the day.
The average glass of OJ has 100 mg - the low end of the RDA. I drink my OJ in the morning, this time of year when oranges are typically cheaper - I usually have a tangelo or other "Christmas" orange mid day and take a small does vitamin at night. When / if the urine starts glowing....I back off the night time tablet since I am not using all I am taking :-)
HTH!

I don't take much in the form of Vitamin C or any other Vitamins. I like to eat oranges. But by the time I get really sick, I drink nothing but OJ and water.
I don't go to the doctors to be treat for every sinus infection. But every so often, I just have to do it. (Those are the ones that the doctors threaten to put me in the hospital for pneumonia.) But my docs, likely also test blood to see if it's viral or bacterial infection and whether to put me on antibiotics or not.>>>>They are trying to avoid MRSA and/or other disease that are resistant to antibiotics.
