Faith - 'An Island in the Setting Sun'

Many times I have discussed the issue, and issues, of faith. My faith and others faiths. We have discussed personal feelings and meanings of the word faith, religion, philosophy... and the various ways and means of them. And all these times I remember a single line in a song by Paul Simon ( 'Proof'), 'faith is an island in the setting sun, proof is the bottom line for everyone.'

Faith is confidence, belief, a moral and ethical compass pointing in the direction one wishes to live. Faith overcomes fear. (FEAR being either, 'false evidence appearing real', or 'f**k everything and run) Faith brings about and strengthens hope. Faith resides in the unseen and in the proven events of ones life. It is a tangeable thing, both temporal and coporial. It can and will be attacked, doubted, called into question and even destroyed. And yet we can hold onto it and overcome many things.

Faith isn't just part of ones religion. There is faith in oneself, faith in others, these are confidences of facts seen or experienced, or beliefs in abilities and possibilities. This is self fortitude, inner confidence, trusted beliefs. Faith here is trust without doubt. Sometimes easily explained, other times inexplicable, however it resides as,...'an island in the setting sun'. Seen sometimes only in a moment, or through certain light or perspective.
