2001: A Space Odyssey? No wait that was a seperate holiday in my household growing up....
Er.....
Crap.
I can't think of a single Wintery Special Day program, treat, or song that is a fave ( unless you count The 12 Pains of Christmas which is a twisted tune by Bob Rivers and I just ADORE that one).
I'm sure the TV will eventually blast forth something that can put a hook into my brain and reel up something nice and fuzzy feeling though.
My favorite Christmas movies are The Grinch, Gremlins, and A Christmas Story.
I prefer all the "kid" Christmas songs and Santa Baby.
We have started our own family tradition of buying all new decorations for the tree each year. We get them at the dollar store, so it is really affordable. Max, my 6.5 year old, got to pick last year and this. Last year was all red (it was purty). This year he picked pink so his little sister would like the tree (my plan is working bwahahahaha). We ended up going with a pinkish/purple, blue, green, silver mixture for a bit of mod tree that represents all of us.
My favorite thing about Christmas is being able to teach my kids about giving and our real reason for celebrating. Our focus is on family, so my kids think Christmas is a reason to be together and show each other our appreciation for one another. We encourage the kids to get gifts for their siblings, but we don't make it about the gifts. I know, it sounds tricky, but we manage this by not spending thousands of dollars on "things".
Of course, I'd love nothing more than to have everyone I know at my house for Christmas, but everyone I know lives 2,000 miles away and would probably freak at the amount of snow we get here (that actually sticks and stays). My oldest son will be visiting for two weeks at Christmas this year, so at least I get to have all my babies together!

Carol of The Bells. I love it.
Instrumentally classic, choir boys ( such lovely voices!) and even modern mixed ( Transiberian Orchestra).
If someone knows a mangled version of that song PLEASE DO NOT SWING IT MY WAY. That and some funky claymation holiday special ( where a styracosaurus and a T-rex were the hosts) are probably all I have left for YAYNESS for this time of year.
Oh yea and my mom's heat activated angels. But those are long gone....
