Does anyone know of a good herb/mineral that helps with sinus pain and/or that helps sinus issues?
I have an super sensitive nose or sinuses per se, at least that is what the allergy specialist told me. (I had allergy test done, no reactions to the test besides the irritant. But it is like I am allergic to everything...sucks.
I have stop taking cold/sinus pills, they don't help or cause sinus infections at times. I have stop using nasal spray, it helped but now I think it is also causing sinus infections too. (Haven't had one since I quit using it. I can not use the sinus irrigation, it causes ear infections which spreads then to rest of the sinuses.
I NEED TO GET OUTSIDE THIS SPRING. But it is going to be another bad allergy/hay fever season, I can see it coming. Plus, I can feel it coming too.
I have similar issues with allergies, recurrant sinusitis and the like. I haven't found anything that is a 'cure' as such, but a few things have helped me.
Avoid milk - your body loses the ability to process cow juice as you get older. It ends up fighting the milk instead of digesting it, and you make more mucus as a result. This gives you more colds/flu and aggravates the sinuses.
Check your teeth - I had a faulty root canal filling where the filling had broken out though the root. The upper teeth roots reach up into the nasal sinus cavities. I always know when a cold is coming on because I get toothache. It took a hi-res X-ray and an extraction to sort this one out.
Get an ioniser which is antibacterial/anti-fungal. Poor air quality makes sinus problems worse, especially if you've got mold anywhere eg bathroom.
Sick buildings. I work in an office with no daylight and no ventilation. It's awful, and there are a lot of people off sick with respiratory problems. Get outside more, but you know this already If only outside wasn't so cold and wet at the moment.
Stress. The 21st century epidemic. Your brain is constantly flooded with cortisol and adrenaline as you suppress the urge to give a righteous beating to the fool who is currently in your face.
These hormones take ages to fade away, they were designed so you could outrun a sabre toothed tiger, but in the modern world they just make you stressed. Plus they intefere with insulin so you get fat too.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. The muffins had nothing to do with it...
If possible try meditation.
For herbs and home remedies I'd be interested too.
Honey is a natural antibiotic, and so is garlic. I wouldn't recommend them in the same spoon tho.
I have been starting to play with or test one thing after another as far as suggestions people tried themselves.
I have heard milk can be a problem. Not in the way you put it. More that the cold temperature of milk or other cold drinks. (But I have been told warmer/hot drinks are the problem not colder.) I don't drink a lot of milk. I have more in the last couple of months.
I will have to finally break down and get an ion w/e it is called.
I have to get outside more, I will do and try that. =P.....Plus, I think it will help my sanity, lower my stress levels, and it's time to drop some weight. Not sure if the whole stress thing is making me fat, or rather keeping the weight on. (I have no problem maintaining the weight I already have. I just am having an extremely hard time to take it off.)
I am going to try the whole mediation thing. I just need to find the time to do that. Think it will have to be late/later at night. (Daughter likes to stay up late.) But I have been lost in my play lists for a few hours a day "to get away" and unwind.
I love garlic and honey. I think it would be good together maybe. =P
