TNP has an interview tomorrow and needs your input before noon Eastern Time
What traditions / celebrations / rituals do you and your family perform for Samhein?
Simple question, should be fairly easy to answer. I'll be using these to help during a radio spot interview that we have been asked to do tomorrow. We are the only pagan organization that will be featured so far on the radio spot, so I would love to have some celebrations, traditions and rits from folks other than my own family that we can share.
For me personally there has always been a feast of sorts and I generally spend the whole day baking and cooking and end up with way too much food. Cooking is a ritual in and of itself if you know what I mean. When I was younger and single there was a fair amount of alcohol imbibing around a great bonfire.
I usually do a small candle ceremony to commemorate the dead and sometimes burn prayers or wishes. When my kids are older I hope to expand and incorporate more of a ritual than I do now.
Of course we still dress up and give out candy and go trick or treating. We carve pumpkins, stay up late and do all the fun spooky stuff too.
Alright, the interview is completed, our 20 minutes turned into 45 , but I feel that it went very well. I will post the recording of the final edit of the show when I receive it from the radio station.
