Personally? I think Thanksgiving is a load of crap. The white man came, we saw, we brought guns, disease and broke a lot of promises. We also had dinner with some of the natives because, well, we couldn't grow our own damned food.
None the less its an excuse to cook all the food I enjoy and as Cloud Runner stated...poop real big. Because all the food I cook this day is rich in taste (calories and fat content as well), my digestive system isn't use to such decedent cooking.
*shakes head at Kris* Sis you just HAD to throw out the siggy comment I told you already that I loved it and that you do awesome work. Your always so worried that I won't like them but they are always amazing. *laughs* Anyway I also love olives CS I steal them from the table as well. Bad me. *laughs*
Thanksgiving in our family isn't really to remember the pilgrims or anything, trust me we have to many history nuts in the family to give the pilgrims much thanks. LOL Its more to have thanks for the things we have, good family, friends etc.
We celebrate it with the typical WAY TO MUCH FOOD meal...but we steer away from the whole commercial "pilgrims and indians" but to actual thanks. We spend the earlier part of the day preparing food and baking, then eating, then rest. I usually have a few crafty things I work on - the kids watch movies - and we typically go out to collect branches, holly, pine cones, etc. for swags and wreaths.
The fall / winter celebrations are my favorite. I am a sucker for them. It is my favorite time of the year.
Actually, Krispy, I has a proposition for ya , if yer willing to take on some side load for TNP.
Bring it on!
I got to thinking about the replies in this post...
My fiance's last name is Adams. I think it would go over with him very well if I found an Indian costume and played The Addams Family movies. Yeah. Real well. He has a great sense of humor and mine is a bit wacky.
