We here at The Noble Pagan strive to provide the online Pagan community with the best possible information about their chosen religion or path. All are welcome through our doors no matter their race, color, sexual preference, or religious practice.
Our mission statement is "Pagans Helping Pagans by Promoting Tolerance Through Education". What does this mean? It is actually best describe by defining each word and putting them in context with each other. I shall attempt to do this so that all understand where we are coming from. Pagans: What are Pagans? Pagans are defined by their belief in non-main stream religions and deities. They do not fit nicely into the niches created by such mainstream religions as Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Jewish, or their derivatives. Pagans typically are polytheistic in belief and revere nature in the highest regard. Helping: To help is to make someone else's life better, easier or more comfortable to live by sacrificing one's own time and effort without question to monetary returns or the owing of a favor. True help is done typically out of the goodness of one's heart.
So let's look now at the first part of our mission statement, "Pagans Helping Pagans...": Simply put, we are a group of pagans willing to take time out of our lives to provide others in need with the knowledge and abilities that are needed for them to continue on their chosen path. This is done without thought to recompense other than the occasional "Thank You!" and quite possibly abit of knowledge learned on our part. Promoting: To promote is to make known to the general populace something which is not known, not accepted, or misunderstood. Tolerance: To be truly tolerant, one must be accepting of anything of which one may find threatening to one's way of life, different in beliefs, or a new way of thinking. To be tolerant one must understand the emotions of the item or person in question and be accepting to the fact that it is to be respected, and while it does not have to be believed in, it must be understood that the opposing thoughts are valid in their own ways.
Through: A very base word, and one that I serious thought about not defining, but it is an integral part of the mission statement, so using "through" in this statement is to say that we are doing something and using another item as a medium to convey our message to the masses. Education: The process of learning. To take something previously unknown to a person and make it known, and thus usable to that person.
So knowing that we can then define the second of part of our mission statement, "... Promoting Tolerance Through Education": We are attempting to make tolerance more pronounced in the world today, not by yelling and screaming at others telling them that they are wrong, but by education the public to our ways, and by presenting the information in such a manner that we are able to help them to understand our ways, and beliefs.
Understanding our ways is to understand us, and that will ultimately lead to a tolerance of our ways.
We invite you to peruse our information and make the determination of whether you would like to participate in what we have to offer. We are mostly an online community that uses a public messaging system to convey our thoughts and knowledge to each other. We consider this as an online family of sorts.
May you walk in her light.
