This is my first post on this site, I'm very new to the site and very new to paganism in general (although i've been reading a lot.)
I'm only saying that first thing 'cause I'm afraid I'm going to repeat a question someone already asked or i'm going to write something that is obvious to everyone but me or something
so here's my thing: over the past three months, I've been overwhelmed with dogs. They come out of nowhere and follow me, those dogs on the rider Waite tarot deck 10 of pentacles showed up in my dreams (they were running and playing through that garden on the card.)
The one that came yesterday, she's very timid and depressed about something. She doesn't look, smell or act sick, just depressed. She follows
me around whenever I open the gate to the yard and she tries
to get in my yard. Unfortunately, we have three other dogs that already found me (literally, one was dropped off by a native American
guy and the other showed up in the yard one day. The first
one showed up with the husband.)
I don't really know what the significance is, why they keep showing up. I also don't really know what to do with them when they find me.... Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
Well generally speaking dog means "loyalty, the ability to forgive through ultimate compassion, and seeing with more than just the eyes". Dog is about love.
And you got them coming to you in droves.
Are you feeling lonely? Have you asked the Universe directly ( or just been wishing alot lately) for a way to fill up any particular void with some companionship?
Perhaps dog is comin at you to say "here I am I will love you unconditionally!!"
Or perhaps you are having some problems with loyalty ( to others or others being trustworthy to you). Dog could be coming to you to teach you about trust, companionship and loyalty ( how to give it and/or how to watch for the healthy true version of it ).
It could be that maybe your house just smells like bacon? Just teasing on that last one.
As for what to do with them.....You could always put an add up saying "found this dog is it yours?" on craigslist or something.
Heck JadeButterfly ( member here) had a stray dog that would na leave her alone ( and she already has two). So she put her two aside, invited it in ( much to her husband's ire and dismay) and put an ad up about this dog. The owner called within 12 hours overjoyed and tear ridden because the puppy had been missing for a few weeks.
The next day the owner and doggy were happily reunited.
So those are a few things to look at and toss around as to why dog may be barking up your yard as of late.
Very well put C/S/ and not much I could add to it. The one thing is that if something, like dogs, seems to be coming into your life, as in showing up everywere, then they may be a symbol as C/S/ said. But YOU have to interpet the symbol as the meening is there. In this case though, as these are living beings, they want to come to you for something. You may indeed smell like bacon, though it may be on a spirit level.
Now, what might you have? Connections. You may be able to read animals. Something tells me you are empathic to them here. Well theres my rwo cents. Be well... W/S/
Maybe you are a healer or a caregiver. Maybe they recognize something in you that will help them. You never know what a stray dog or cat has been through on their journey to your house. About ten years ago, I was going through my life, self-centered, not very empathetic. One day, while I was walking into my house, a black lab puppy ran out of the woods and walked right inside the door with me. He taught me how to be a better person and how to put other's needs before mine when it is needed. I work at a National Park where many people dump their animals. The animals are picked up by the rangers and taken to the local shelter. They have a very high kill rate. I started taking in the animals and finding them homes. I've developed a partnership with a group that transports dogs/cats to no kill shelters in the northeast. They spay/neuter them, I vaccinate, deworm, and give them love and attention until they can go to their forever home. I've come to see it as my calling. I've become very aware of the suffering of animals. I became a strict vegan after learning about factory farming. I get turtles off the road so people won't run over them and take ones that have been hit to the wildlife rehaber. I've helped injured foxes, raccoons, a crow, and snakes. An injured owl once let me pick him up and put him in my car to take him to the vet. He just stood there looking around. I have opposums and raccoons showing up to eat and find shelter at my house. I picked up a dog that was so starved, you could literally see every bone in its body. While we were waiting at the vet's office, I sat down on the floor next to her and she put her paw on my hand and just stayed that way. I like to think she was saying thank you. I'm not saying these things to make myself look good. I'm actually a hard person and have little patience with humans but animals seem to touch something inside me. I have to help them. Its an imperative inside me. I think if it weren't for my love of animals, I would be a very unhappy, brooding person. They help me heal my spirit every day.
