Lately I've been experiencing visions of spirits (several) and attempting to make contact. Celtic Spider (in all her wisdom ) suggested I do a tarot reading for them, just as I would any other person. Though I've not done this yet, I wanted to touch base with others on making a connection.
I personally will not touch a Ouija board (no matter how pretty they are :notrust I've heard an array of experiences with this tool. Most are negative, very few are positive and because of this I don't believe anyone not intimately familiar with a Ouija Bored should use it (without the assistance of someone who is).
Dreams are another way to connect with spirits and various energies but can be quite difficult, especially if you can't remember your dreams (or astral travels).
Has anyone tried to make connections or made connections inadvertently? What is your experience with these spirits or energies?

Our beliefs define the limits of our allowed experience
My experience with ghosties ( deadheads, spirits, lost souls, whatever you want to call them) never really dealt with "visions" so to speak.
Well there was one.....that was a long time ago and it was only one communication ( and I REALLY shoulda listened to her....to bad the whole experience freaked me out so badly).
Like I mentioned before you can do a simple reading ( ask them a question, open yourself up to their feel and do the spread....I've used the simple four card spread).
Some people believe in automatic writing. It's where you ask a question to an entity and just loosely keep a pencil in your hand over some paper. It kinda like ouija but without the bored. I'm pretty sure I just gave the cliff notes to that technique .
You can always just talk to them out loud and see if you get any responses ( visually, minds eye visually, audially, etc etc).
It's been a while since I have "started the chat" when it comes to ghosties. Usually they get my attention in some way or another and I either pass on the info I am supposed to or I figger out what they were trying to tell me in the first place.
Well I dont like the board as well as the spectrum it contacts is extremely broad... The automatic writing is a much narrower band of communication and has worked for me many times...
But normaly when I encounter entities that want my attention I can hear them speak, (either auditory or mentally) and they can understand me...
Mostly when its auditory I have some problems understanding them, foreign languages I dont know, but we get along with hand signs and small doodles...
I've always been interested in automatic writing but as far as the appeal? Its limited. I have a hard time articulating how a Spirit contacts me. Not often do I get direct answers or a string of words that would make sense. They don't really talk-- I just feel. They linger in the center of my minds eye, I see what they want me to see and I feel what they want me to feel and I articulate for them?
My aunt is blessed (or cursed. however you want to look at it) with visions. She said just talk to them as though they are right there in the room with you, and if you can't understand the vision you are getting just ask them to show you in a different way. I will NEVER touch a Ouiji board. No way, never. I've heard to many accounts of what happened when someone tried to play with it.
I understand that one. I get the feel part more strongly than the "see" part.

^^^^This.
I don't "see" stuff in the physical sense, nor do I "hear" things in the physical sense. It's all the "feel" of something that tells me what I need to know.
Hope that made some type of sense.
On a side note, I don't do Tarot but I'd love to learn.
Yeah everything really translates for me from "feel". When I "hear " something it's actually a type of translation from "feel".
I "feel" the vibration of the letters that make up the word, so I "feel" the word, and then of course there is the "feel" of sentences.
"Sight" works that way too.
I "feel" the colors or shape of a thing and it translates into a rough visual aid.
It works with events, emotions, timing and oh so much more.
I hear, see and smell...and I can't explain to you how because these words all fall short in the articulation of what I do-- but they are the closest things I can get to, to explain to others what it is I do.
