What Reiki comes with Rules???
Yeah kinda sorta and na really.
There are really only four I go by.
1- NEVER without permission. By without permission I mean DIRECT permission. For starters that is just a courtesy of respect to any other human being ( common sense people) and secondly that should be a no brainer. I mean take your great aunt Gina. She has cancer. She doesn't believe in all that new age healer feeler bullcrap. Now I know you love her and don't want her in any pain or to die. It's her choice to accept or reject reiki ( or any other help really). While you may mean well, reiki will know that she is not willing to accept it's help. She's not open to it. So reiki won't take. Not to mention while you are coming from a loving place, you just went behind beloved great aunt Gina's back and negated her right to free will ( her choice of what kind of care she wants in regards to her condition).
Also while some practitioners may tell you "if the reiki is not accepted it will just dissipate into the universe and go where it is needed". No. Reiki is not some fluffy little lap dog who will find something else to entertain itself or supplement it's job if the original script has been negated. If it won't take because the person is not open to it, then it gonna come back to you and let you know that nuh uh no way na happening.
Now keep in mind that sometimes someone will make a direct request and you will notice that reiki rebounded back to you ( as a practitioner). Wha??? A person can SAY they are open to it sure. However if they are afraid of it, doubtful, just saying yes to be polite, don't believe in it or whatever then reiki will know that too and come back to you.
In that case DO NOT FORCE IT. You are not doing anything wrong ( remember practitioners are just vessels really). It's not taking for a reason. You may not know the details of the reason and that is fine ( after all princess it is not about you, it is about the ones you are helping).
NEVER FORCE REIKI ON ANYTHING OR ANYONE. That would be common sense though right?
A gentle reminder on that note is "When Ego Goes, Reiki Flows". When working with reiki you are not the one in charge. The moment you forget that you are no longer working WITH reiki. You are fighting it and making it harder on yourself and the person you are trying to help.
Rule number 2 - Don't use reiki on broken bones before they have been set. Reiki works in a myriad of ways and even if it is a slow and subtle way the last thing you want to do is work on someone whose ankle was busted before they got it set ( you don't want to see them going to the docs to have it REBROKEN to have it RESET properly do you?).
Rule number 3- Don't do reiki for others when you are sick, angry, upset or having an off day. I would think this one is just common sense ( as it applies to any type of energy work). I can't really be much of a clear vessel or help to you if I am tired, cranky, sneezing and not with it can I? No. While I could use reiki on myself to help me get better I, and while it is true that when working on another reiki also helps the practitioner.....I really would na want to pass on the common cold while I help someone's back ache. Reiki does not fix a problem. It is not the heal all. It helps the person ( practioner and "healee") heal themselves. Think active immune boost ( if one is using it for say a common cold).
Reiki is an experience that is suppose to come out of a place of love and light. Genuine healing intent. I know when I am sick or angry I am not in that place.
So yes people. Only offer to do reiki if you are healthy and stable of mind. It makes the whole interaction and experience much more pleasant and easier for all involved.
Rule number 4 - Listen to Reiki! That fellow knows more than you are consciously aware of. It may switch on without your activation. There is a reason for it. It may not be obvious at first so do a little digging. It'll be worth it. Someone may ask for reiki and reiki may say no. Listen to reiki. You may not get the details, however reiki knows. You may be asked to do a healing for a headache and be drawn to other parts of the body. Don't try and steer away from those areas to concentrate on the headache. Reiki knows something you are missing because you are all about the headache.
Reiki knows. So listen to it.

Some people will holler about rules dealing with charging, how much to charge and all that. These folks fall under the school of "reiki is an exchange of energy so there must be balance maintained". I.E. I do reiki for you so you exchange money to me.
I don't fall with that school of thought ( never have had a problem doing reiki for free). If I am meant to charge I am sure reiki will let me know about it.
So while you may here a lot of rules out there ( one must meditate, one must not eat, one must detox, one must take money, one must, one must, one must.....) the only
four that I apply as actual goodness to heavens rules are the
four I just explained.
You CAN meditate before hand. You CAN set up oodles of crystal grids or incenses or soothing music or calmng colors. You CAN do a lot of things as a practitioner ( to each their own). That does na mean you HAVE to in order for reiki to work properly or to be a good practitioner.
Whatever way I work with reiki by utilizing these four basic rules of thumb has never let me nor another ( that I know of) down.
Again all statements I make about reiki are from MY OWN PERSONAL beliefs and experiences with it as a practitioner and a recipient of reiki sessions ( my bubby is also attuned and he gives me reiki from time to time when I am just too tired to).
That is to say I am not bashing anyone elses experiences, views or preferences nor invalidating them either.
I hope this helped some.
