I find that the symbols help me focus ( and they are fun.....I love Cho-Ku-Rei's swirliness!).
I do na think they necessary necessary though ( like I said I forget to use the long distance symbol have the time I working with someone who is na here and the Reiki seems to reach the person just fine).
I do na think anyone gonna discredit you Bruce. There are actual discussions that go on about whether Usui used symbols ( or if it was Takata that invented them blah blah blah) or na. There is also some debate as to what the symbols even look like ( Takata's students for instance seem to have individual versions of the swirly one for example).
AGREED 100%, and just to take it a little bit further - Everybody does practice Reiki every time they need to and I'll give you two examples:
Slightly overweight lady struggling with her 4 bags of shopping climbing up stairs (knows absolutely nothing about, in fact never even heard of healing except when a boat is healing over or her partner is healing his shoe) she stumbles on the next step and scrambles forward. This causes her to scrape her shin on the next step up.......... Excruciating pain.......... What does she do, Now we all know what she says, that was not the question. She somehow sits and places her hands over the painful area and does not remove them until Reiki helps the pain to subside.
Guy just fixed the hinge on the bottom kitchen cupboard gets up and his head comes in contact with the open door of the top culboard. With tears welling up in his eyes. He somehow sits and places his hands over the brain numbingly painful area and does not remove them until Reiki helps the pain to subside.
Two scenarios that I'll bet occur 1,000 times a day, every day that there are people on this planet. Nuf Sed???
