Some stones are more powerful on certain days of the week. I found this guide to stones that can work for protection and stones that can be used for amulets. I personally find many stones outside that serve me well; but this guide is helpful.
Sunday: Wear topaz, sunstone or diamond. Use pearl in crafting talismans.
Monday: Wear pearl, moonstone or crystal. Use and emerald for amulets.
Tuesday: Wear a ruby, star sapphire or emerald. Use topaz for amulets.
Wednesday: Wear amethyst, star ruby or lodestone. Use touquoise in amulets.
Thursday: Wear sapphire, cat's eye, or carnelian. Use sapphire in rituals.
Friday: Wear emerald or cat's eye. Use ruby.
Saturday: Wear turquoise, lavradorite or diamond. Use amethyst
I honestly cannot remember where I rousted up that information ( that was a long time ago actually).
I'm not surprised that there would be differences in the information you have and the information I posted. There are so many different branches of belief, practice and traditions that I believe there isn't really a huge set of bound "must do's or else" when it comes to utilizing the many tools and gifts available when practicing spellwork.
Then again that is my personal opinion too.
