Yup you saw that header correctly. It's plural and that is because Tourmaline comes in a variety of colors ( and with that a variety of uses).
Out of all the Tourmaline's I've only had personal experience with the Black and Watermelon varieties so when I get there, I'll be able to throw in my two cents on them.
For the rest of the family I'll just be touching base on a brief overview for each.
In general Tourmaline can help with the chakras ( acting to clear, maintain and stimulate them). It can be used do get rid of fear by encouraging understanding and self confidence. It is said to be good for balancing the male/female energies in a person and can help for balancing the mind, the energy centers and even the auric body.
It is thought to have healing and protective powers and is thought to help with creativity. It is said to help one believe in ones inner world as much as one does in their outer world.
Okay so onto the colors!
Black Tourmaline
Is used to protect against negativity by returning any negative intents, energy, mojo etc back to the sender. It is said to help increase physical vitality, emotional stability and intellecutal acuity and is supposed to help one maintain a positive attitude even if situations or people around person with the BT are all negative in attitude.
It's supposed to be most awesome in helping one to ground.
On a personal note here I am "allergic" to this stone. I hate the way it feels and too much exposure to it actually gives me shin splints (

!). My husband on the other hand could snuggle a chunk of this all day long and be happy with it.
I'll see if I can get him to respon to this post on why he is so damn happy with it.
Blue Tourmaline
Is used to help stimulate and activate the throat and third eye chakras. It is said to help strengthen communication about psychic awareness. Its suppose to help one live more in harmony with what is going on around a person. It is also a stone that activates awareness in the reawards to serving humanity and sharing in knowledge out of love.
It is supposed to be a vehicle for visions and for contacts with the higher realms.
Brown Tourmaline
Is said to be used for clearing the aura and for stimulating it to align for optimimum energy. It is also said to bring the presence of Earth for peace to the higher self. Can also be use for protection.
Colourless Tourmaline
Aligns the energy centers of the physical body. Provides synthesis of healing properties of other types of tourmaline an can be use to activate the crown chakra.
Green Tourmaline
Can help you "see with your heart" ( as it is goo for opening up the heart chakra). It can be use in meitations to help attune the energy between your heart and third eye chakras.
It's energy is thought to be masculine, however the compassionate sort of masculine. It is also a stone one would use to work with when healing plants or working with them ( ooh an herbalists stone perhaps?).
It is said to have the ability to transform negative energy to positive energy.
Multicolored Tourmaline
Look to the colors it is combined with for info on it. Oh yeah and it supposed to additionally have the abilitye to be use as a gate to the inner and higher selves.
Orange Tourmaline
Enhances creativity and is used to stimulate the navel chakra. It can enhance intution an sexuality. Also levels out emotions ( using the intellect to direct desire).
Pink Tourmaline
Allows one to conceive "new" ideas ( in creativity). Allows one to maintaint a connection between self and All That Is.
Stimulates heart and crown chakra bringing forth loove an spirituality. Promotes love and oy an peace ( ahhhhhh). Allows one to trust in the power of love. Promotes enthusiasm for life.
Is used to help one attain peace, trust, love, understanding and awareness.
Watermelon Tourmaline
Super Activator of the heart chakra providing for stimulation energizing, and connection with the heart chakra and the higher self. It asks one to look past seriousness and learn with an open heart and mind through humour. It helps one to experience the beauty of nature. It enhamces cooperation and tact in all situations.
I personally like this stone as it has a nice"comfy" feel to it. CR has some WT....I'll see if I can prod him into commenting on this thread.
